Lugano started the game without Federico Pagani. Pagani is still recovering from an injury and was substituted by Mattia Tedeschi, a lefthander that is Lugano’s third foreign player.
Lugano started very focused in the game and could rely on their 17 years old goalkeeper Fabio Galetti who played an excellent match. The first quarter ended 2-2 with much hope for the Luganesi.
In the second quarter Elias Nieddu, one of the best until this point, reentered too early into the field and was excluded for the rest of the game.
Kreuzlingen took advantage of this moment of instability and scored seven goals in the second period taking the lead to 9-4. With five goals advantage in the second half, they were able to control this result and qualify for the Swiss final.
The second semifinal game saw an easy win for home team Horgen against the challenger from the NLB Lausanne. The team from Lac Leman is formed mainly by very young players. Moussa Benyassine Ilyés was the best player on their team. The lefthander with a past in the French youth national teams showed good movements and excellent positioning on the 6m perimeter. Ultimately Horgen demonstrated the difference in class and often outplayed the opponent with some well-played actions.
