The Swiss team, coached by Zoltan Hyc and Sébastien Viriot, had one gameless day to fix the defensive uncertainties displayed in the match against Ukraine.
The team started very focused in the game playing pressing. During the entire game, the center defenders showed an excellent work with the cohesive help of the rest of the team. On the other hand, Slovenia applied a very tight zone defense on Swiss center forward Fynn Vucinic.
This created a lot of space for other players that Gabriel Catillaz, among others, exploited very well. The player of Carouge Natation scored the first three goals for the Swiss team: first from “position 3” after good faking, then in a counter-attack and finally with a well-placed shot in man-up.
A beautiful long shot from Christian Würth and Glenn Valsangiacomo in a counter-attack set the score to 5 to 3 at the end of halftime.
In the third period, Switzerland swam many meters, not conceding any goal to the opponent. Christian Würth scored with a beautiful lob shot from the right side position, and Catillaz retook the responsibility with a strong and precise goal in man-up.
Switzerland started the fourth quarter with the result of 7 to 3. This was when the helvetic team exploited critical man-up situations. First center Fynn Vucinic, who was finally allowed to touch a ball, scored with a well-executed rotation on the left post and with Alessandro Carnovale from the right-wing position.
Slovenia was able to correct the final score, but at this point, Switzerland could already secure the win leading the game most of the time.
Switzerland will play the next game against France tomorrow 13th of July, at noon.
